Author’s Notes and Acknowledgments…oh, and that pesky Disclaimer

“Fallen Angel” is my Mighty Ducks capper. Even though I wrote stories after it and I even have two sequels to it, this is my Mona Lisa. I didn’t know when I started out that it would be a novel. I thought it would be a few chapters and done, but when I started writing, I figured out I had nothing to do with it. The story and the characters wrote themselves. I apologize for the length, but I seriously do not how I would have shut the ducks up. They were just yakking…

Despite this, I couldn’t have written this story without my cheerleaders (Don’t hit me, Angelbaby!). All writers crave to know they have been heard or at least read, and I would still be craving if not for those who helped me, encouraged me, and listened to me to yap. If not for them, this would not be here and done. That is why I feel the need to acknowledge them.

Acknowledgments:

My family: My best friends. Thank you so much for putting up with me, my crabby moods when something’s not going right in my stories, and just everything! You always support me, no matter what, and whenever someone puts me down about my writing ability, you are there to point out just how wrong he/she is. Thank you for your love and support (spiritually, emotionally, monetarily), and I thank God for you in my life.

Angelbaby: My best friend writer. Sometimes when I feel I can’t do what we have set out to do, you are always there to tell me that I will—no matter what. When I was losing steam, you sent me the chapter nine beta-read and once more lifted my spirits. When I need a hand, you are always there to lend me your arm…and your talent with the written (or typed) word. I’m told constantly by my mom that the Lord sends me people. You are without a doubt one of them.

Divey: My first beta. You read chapters one through six without complaint, even though I sometimes would change things and resend. You were the first to ever comment and one of the first to put me in a positive light. You complimented me to the point where I would giggle in the computer lab and tell strangers, “Divey tells me I rock. Leave me alone.” Thank you for all your hard work, and this story would not have been written without you…Would you like a strawberry? *giggles*

Hsien: The whole point of this story was to take place of the promise I made to you that I would finish “Sibling Rivalry.” If you would never have voted on my website, I would never have written this! (Now, the ever important retrospect-ion: Are you sorry you voted?) When I told you I was leaving the fandom, you wrote me in the same sentence with J.K. Rowlings and J.R.R. Tolkien! (I never will forget that!) Thanks, man.

Notes:

  1. Sadly, I suck at continuity. Therefore, in order to understand all of “Fallen Angel,” everything should be read at once—which is physically unable to be done. In “Someday,” Nosedive says that he remembered his father dying his hair, but in chapter five of “Fallen Angel,” Nosedive explains why Harper dyes his hair. In the epilogue, Nosedive and Wildwing discuss their meeting in “Gut Feelings,” but if you haven’t read chapter two of “Fallen Angel,” you certainly won’t understand “Gut Feelings.” I apologize for the inconvenience of this, and in the future, I hope I’m better at writing than that!

  1. In chapter three, Wildwing tells his brother that his mother was “pregnant,” while in chapter five, Nosedive has his “hatching day.” I have adopted a “hatching-birth” hybrid in my story, and if you need a better understanding of what I have in my head, feel free to email me!

  1. I have no idea about men’s sizes, so if the info in chapter five is wrong, it’s totally my boyfriend’s fault!

  1. “Shark colors”—the San Jose Sharks—black and blue.

  1. For the Zenith explanation, please see “Welcome to Brotherhood” Chapter Two.

  1. “Stars’ Hallow” is not only the setting from Gilmore Girls, but since it means “Stars Sacred,” I thought it was the perfect religious holiday for the Puckworlers, equivalent to the sacredness of Christmas in their religion.

Disclaimer:

The Ducks are owned by Disney, I think. I know there was a change of hands with the hockey teams, so I don’t know who actually owns them. Anyhoo, I’m not making money off of this, so please don’t sue, whoever you are.

Martians, white and green, Bane, and Superman are owned by DC Comics.

Special thanks to BlueMoonDuchess and Aoi Akiko for allowing me to the tattoo/taint from their stories in this one (“I Look Good in White” and “Once Upon a Faerytale,” respectfully).

Everything owned by Angelbaby:

  1. Shane—Wait! Angelbaby owns somebody? Liberation, girl! And post that story! (After you finish your novel, of course)
  2. Part of the history in chapter two
  3. Imprinting
  4. Nightly—I loved that story! Harry was so cute!
  5. “Avian” language
  6. The beginning of Chapter Nine—Thanks for the help with the angsty paragraph!
  7. And the beta-read for Chapter Nine!
  8. Melted ice..and so many others that I have forgotten!

Um, did I ever thank you for letting me steal your stuff? Well, here you go! THANK YOU!

And from Divey, I stole “Saurian Blood Oath.” It’s eerie, demeaning, and definitely evil. So, of course I loved it and needed to incorporate it!

I hope I didn’t dissuade you, and thanks for reading! I worked countless hours on this, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

Anybody I’ve forgotten to mention you, I’m sure there is a reason!
