“Lean on Me”

“Brother?”

            “Yeah, Al?”

“Do you ever get tired of almost getting us killed?”

Edward Elric sighed and tipped his head back to lean against his little brother’s shoulder behind him. “Equivalent exchange, little brother,” was his only reply.

A heavy silence consumed the room, and Al jerked on the bonds that kept his hands apart. “You can’t use that as an excuse for everything.”

“It’s true! You choose to stick around me, and this is what you get in return.”

Alphonse sighed and shook his head. “And what do you get by sticking around me?”

Ed’s smirk infiltrated his voice. “Someone to lean on.”
