Captain Klegghorn dreaded what he had to do next.
When he raided the party at the nightclub, he had fully expected to find drugs and alcohol—not the teen now slumped in his office. His worst fears had fortunately been put to rest. The breathalyzer test found no alcohol on the teen’s breath, and he needn’t do the drug test. The kid showed no signs—glassy, bloodshot eyes, jitteriness—well, the kid had the former, but Klegghorn knew that was just from his predicament.
Still, the teen had been there. While he hadn’t committed any crimes, he was a minor and couldn’t be let go without his guardian.
Slipping into his chair behind the desk, Klegghorn sighed and leaned back. He sent the teen a sympathetic gaze. “I’m sorry, kid, but I’ve got to call your brother.”
